For one mother, everything seemed to be progressing smoothly throughout her pregnancy—until an unforeseen tragedy changed everything.
A Devastating Loss
Watts had sensed something was wrong.
“Throughout the week, I had a feeling. The baby’s movements had decreased. I was overcome with anxiety.”
Her worst fears were confirmed. The umbilical cord had become constricted, leading to the heartbreaking loss of her baby boy, Noah, before he even had the chance to take his first breath.

“She seemed hesitant. I could tell she wasn’t sure about selling it, but in the end, she did,” he recalled.
At the time, he had no idea of the crib’s significance.
His wife, browsing through baby clothes at the sale, casually asked how old Watts’ child was. It was then that Watts shared her heartbreaking story.
“I told her my son had passed away in July,” she recounted.

After learning the truth, Kumpula knew he had to do something special. Instead of keeping the crib for himself, he decided to transform it into something meaningful—a handcrafted bench.
When he returned to give it back to Watts, she was overwhelmed with emotion.
“I burst into tears instantly,” she said.
